Evaluation For Final Print Advertisement
From my original idea the only thing that has stayed the same was the positioning of the ice cream tub, but apart from that every initial idea had changed. I had pre production sketches of what I wanted my advertisement to look like but my print advertisement changed so much from the first one because I wanted it to appeal to George my target audience and I thought that the first idea was a bit to childish. I also changed a lot because when I did my primary research I realised that things like the tag line looked more affective when I took one word away and made the sentence simpler. Most changes were made also because I know Fair-Trade and natural ingredients matter to my target audience George, as he is a reformer, this is the reason I put the Fair-Trade logo on my print advertisement, I also didn’t think the Fair-Trade logo on the tub of Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey was not visible as I had wished, then having two Fair-Trade logos I added (All dairy and plantation farmer receive) next to the Fair-Trade logo, I also did this because it made a rule or three.
After completing the first draft print advertisement I decided I really did like it but the advertisement was not up to my standard as the monkeys and the tub of Ben & Jerry’s Chunk Monkey ice cream was not cut out well on Photoshop as I was still learning how to use Photoshop. Also another critical reason was that I thought my print advertisement was too childish and a bit silly and changes the idea totally as my target audience age is thirty years of age and I wanted to make sure that my advertisement appealed to George.
During the post-production process I realised that what I was trying to achieve was a poster that didn’t go by the original Ben & Jerry’s print advertisements as they use cartoon like backgrounds and characters and I wanted to use real life images, mainly because my target audience George is 30 and I thought that its might be a bit to childish or a bit to immature for him. I also wasn’t sure on how to do a cartoon like advertisement and my drawing skills are not very good, this probably would have affected the standard of my print advertisement. So I made the decision to purely do real life photos so that it would be easier for me, look better and finally appeal to George my target audience.
One disadvantage that I changed to an advantage on my third print advertisement was the background for my print advertisement as I wanted to put most of the main object in the low key light so they would stand out a lot more then usual but it wouldn’t look as good because the way I wanted the ingredients to be coming down into the pot of ice cream and I wanted the tagline to next to the pot on the left hand side but the branches from the plants above were getting in the way and was making the positioning , I solved this problem by using the clone tool to copy the white misty colour and pot it over the branch as if it was never there, after that was gone there was nothing in the way of the tagline or any of the ingredients.
My final print advertisement my print advertisement has changed so much and is totally different from my original idea. The text has changed to a slightly different shade of yellow based on primary research, originally I didn’t have the ingredients above the tub but I knew that my target audience George likes to know what’s in the food he consumes, the background has changed three times and some tree
Branches have been edited, a Fair-Trade symbol has been added and positioned in the right, also I added text next the Fair-Trade symbol in the Fair-Trade green and blur colours, which made a rule of three and finally I listened to my primary research and used another picture of my Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey ice cream tub to make it look as if the ingredients were not just coming down but coming down into the tub of ice cream. If I had the chance I to do my print advertisement I would change the way that the ingredients are angled as I think it would look even more as if the ingredients were coming down into the pot.
Technically I think my advert look good and is very affective, e.g. the positioning of my ice cream tub and the noticeable rule or three, I am also happy with the jungle scene I have chosen because I think it’s perfect for my advertisement and it’s just the way I wanted to position it as I thought my target audience George would think it was great as he can see what’s in the ice cream apart from milk as I thought milk or a cow would ruin the narrative of the jungle theme, the tagline is simple, affective and in yellow which matches the colour of the Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey tub, and also helps the theme in the mise-en-scene

Idea Development - Narrative & Character.
-Our animation is the past, present & future and also space because we are going thought the timeline of mobile phones and ringtones, the ringtones also represent the past, present & future.
-Just because we have we have no human characters in our animation doesn’t mean we don’t have any characters representing past, present & future. When you see the old phones it’s like there out of fashion and scruffy, almost like someone wearing old, out of fashion clothing, were as the iphone is trendy, new and in fashion. The ringtones are similar, the Nokia ringtone is boring and old were as the first one is a bit more adventurous but annoying, the more modern crazy frog ringtone is very annoying and is a ringtone that most people would recognize from not long ago.
-Our theme is space aswell as past, present & future, this is why we used a space background and thebackground music of 2001 a space odyssey opening theme.
Cutout animation - Cutout animation is a technique for producing animations using flat characters, props and backgrounds cut from materials such as paper, card, stiff fabric or even photographs.
Pixelation/ Stop Motion Animation - Pixelation is when you take one picture at a time moving slightly using people, photo by photo. Stop motion animation is exactly the same by using objects.
Cel animation - Cel animation is a transparent sheet on which objects are drawn or painted for traditional, hand-drawn animation, such as The Simpsons.
Rotoscoping - Rotoscoping is when a piece of film is drawn on so when played it looks like a cartoon, such as the film A Scanner Darkly.
Claymation - Claymation is when you make a clay character or object and such as Stop Motion animation and Pixelation you move it a slight bit take a photo so on and fourth.
My First Try At Rotoscoping.
I made this by simply filming myself using I Stop Motion (films in pictures), exporting the pictures into a new folder on my desktop, opening photoshop, import pictures and clicking filter at the top bar, filter gallery then add an effect to the picture to give it a cartoony affect.
